Now converted into a museum, this 18th century
colonial house was previously used to tend to the French and English
wounded during the great battle of Grand Port early 19th century.
The museum has three floors, two of which are
accessible to the public. On the ground floor, wreckages of battle
ships, original cannon and cannon balls, paintings, swords and weaponry
and a collection of relief maps are being showcased.
Mahé de Labourdonnais' four-poster bed, two palanquins
and wooden sedan-type chairs, a collection of coins, curios, model
sailing ships and early maps, labelled in French and English are
displayed on the first floor.
