Baie
Bordering the busy village of Grand Baie, you
can best appreciate the beauty in a car-ride before settling down
for your favourite spot, under the sun or enjoying the shade of
the filaos.
Grand Baie, formerly a major fishing village, is
today more than a tourist city centre with its shopping centres namely
the Sunset Boulevard and
the Super U / Richmond Hill complex,
load of restaurants, nightlife and watersports activities. Many locals
come to Grand Baie for its nightlife and ... grocery shopping !!!
The conference centre in Grand Baie
attracts many world conferences and meetings. Just next to it is
Royal Palm hotel,
the 5-star hotel where numerous stars and chief government officials
have stayed.
 La
Cuvette
Nestled and slightly hidden away from the
excited crowd in Grand Baie, this smaller stretch of sand offers
a nice place to relax and enjoy the view on the other side of the
bay.
Recently this year, La Cuvette public beach experienced an uplifting
with a new landscape, toilet and kiosk facilities and a new Chinese
restaurant, Ocean Restaurant.
The uplifting was required following protests from the Royal Palm
hotel as many locals went to its next-door beach.
